Single Test Bench Accommodates Five Gearboxes
The solution was a custom intermediate and tail rotor test system in the U.S. with local country support. The new test bench needed to accommodate all five of their helicopter gearboxes with flexibility, improved data quality, energy efficiency and a safe operator environment.
Automatic Testing for Operator Safety
A state-of-the-art drive system can precisely control speed and torque and the host system controller can accommodate procedures for start-up, warm-up, manual test, and emergency shut downs. Test program sets and special procedures can easily be programmed, providing automatic test control and improved safety for workers.
H2. Ergonomic Environment and Fewer Operator Hours
Test articles can easily be prepped and disassembled on the transportable fixture outside the machine, giving operators an ergonomic working environment. Instead of attaching cables and parts inside the machine for test, the fixtures allow operators to stand in an ergonomic position.
With centralized unload and load stations as well as testing cycles lasting only a few hours, minimal manpower is required.
Mechanical Energy Regeneration
This customer chose mechanical energy regeneration for this test stand. RedViking offers both mechanical and electrical energy regeneration options to recapture up to 80% of power. Depending on testing frequency, energy regeneration can save hundreds of thousands of dollars each year.
