Location:

Plymouth, MI

Description:

For almost 40 years, RedViking has been solving tough engineering problems and winning with the world’s largest in Aerospace, Automotive, Defense, Heavy Equipment, and other exciting industries.

Our success starts with our employees. We look for strategic thinkers and self-starters committed to innovation.  Our engineers don’t want to just work on what’s next, they go beyond and define it.

When you join RedViking, you will become a member of a multi-disciplined technical team driven by bold and innovative custom solutions for global leaders across different fields and industries. You will work on a variety of projects, from start to finish, as well as the latest technology to help transform manufacturing and bring value to our customers. That means working on cool projects such as helicopter test systems, jet engine assembly lines, battery-free AGVs, solar and electric transportation, and leading-edge factory software to name a few. Ready to help define what’s next?

We offer a flexible, creative work environment and value personal and professional growth.  Premium low-cost BCBS health benefits are provided as well as generous paid time off, 401k match, discretionary bonus, and other great benefits. Check us out at RedViking.com!

Your day-to-day: Everything we do is custom and project-based. You won’t do the same thing every day.  You will be a key member of our engineering team in one of 3 business units and involved in every element of the project “cradle to grave”. You will provide technical support for the design, development, testing, and implementation of custom automated manufacturing, test systems and operational intelligence projects. At times you will construct PLC programs from scratch and other times debug/enhance from an existing platform.  You will work with stakeholders at all levels and your input will impact all elements of the project as you participate in team and customer meetings to identify requirements, specifications, and timelines to meet or exceed expectations.  Additional compensation and perks are provided for projects that require extensive travel.  Relocation assistance is available.  Hybrid work schedule.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, related discipline or equivalent in experience
  • Several years of PLC programming experience (Rockwell and/or Siemens) from scratch and troubleshooting
  • Experience with automation systems used for manufacturing (i.e., PLCs, HMIs, Servo Motors, and Communication Networks)
  • Solid understanding of electrical schematics and drawings
  • Hardware design skills such as panel layout and industrial controls
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
  • Proven team player with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, upper management, and staff
  • Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) require that applicants are legally authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer and do not require sponsorship for an employment visa now or in the future

Testimonials

What I like most about working at RedViking are the problem solving solutions we develop for our customers. It goes beyond selling a product. It’s forming a collaborative partnership with our customers that enables them to be successful and keeps them coming back to RedViking with new challenges for us to help them solve. Jeff DeClue - Sales Manager of Dynamic Test Systems
First of all, it’s the people. Some of the smartest engineers I have ever worked with are here. But more than that, we all are trying to do our best and be better every day. Everyone is working to improve themselves and the company and that creates a synergy of improvement that you just don't see most places.

Second, I truly feel empowered and supported by management. They are always striving to create an environment where the staff can learn and grow. They are always looking to do what they can to make this a welcoming, friendly, inclusive, supportive environment for professional and personal growth.

And last but not least, it’s the work! I love being a part of creating the next generation of machinery. From AGVs to robots we do some very cool stuff and that makes coming to work fun. One day you’re assembling aircraft engines and the next day you’re working on an AGV that carries a garbage truck. If you think that’s cool, then you understand why I love being a Viking!!
